It's partially developed to make controlling WSs easy. Please check the techdoc and the example in esp-idf on how to use it. In general: The Xtensa docs on the core we use are pretty good.
The problem with it is that, as far as I know, we have them because we signed an NDA with Cadence, making it hard to just spread them around. We know this is an issue, and we're working on getting the info out one way or another. People did awesome things using assembly on the ESP; we want to see awesome things with the ESP32 as well, so we have to spread this information one way or another. Be assured we post what we can as soon as we have their permission.
The manuals change with R, hence we provide versions for the most recent released R version R-release , a very current version for the patched release version R-patched and finally a version for the forthcoming R version that is still in development R-devel.
Translations of manuals into other languages than English are available from the contributed documentation section only a few translations are available. Older versions of the manual can be found in the respective archives of the R sources.
The HTML versions of the manuals are also part of most R installations accessible using function help. That is, the objects that it works on, and the details of the expression evaluation process, which are useful to know when programming R functions.
Please check the manuals for R-devel before reporting any issues with the released versions.
