They have an optimal range of km, a falloff range of km, with a jam strength of In comparision, ships like the Blackbird, Kitsune, Falcon, and Scorpion have jam strengths in the 6. These modules must be mounted outside the POS bubble.
Faction ECM is recommended for large towers in hostile environments to ensure jamming on enemy ships, even on secondary types. At a minimum, a medium tower should have 2 of each type online and a large tower will probably want 4 of each type online. If a medium or large tower will be actively defended by players POS gunners taking control of the defenses, then you may wish to anchor spares of each type.
Small towers can be fitted with 1 of each type online, but in most cases you should take a small POS down if you are under threat of a wardec or attack. Note: Dreads are immune to ECM in siege mode and carriers are immune if in triage mode. POS towers have two bays, a fuel bay and a 'stront' bay. The more stront, the longer that reinforced mode will last which will enforce a delay before enemies can fully destroy your POS tower.
This delay gives you time to rally defenders or evacuate assets before the POS is completely destroyed. See reinforced mode for a full discussion of this. Never online a tower without putting at least a few hours of Strontium Clathrates in the stront bay. Common recommendations are to put hours worth in or hours in. The goal is to shift the timer around so that it likely falls during your enemy's off-peak time. You should also have additional Strontium Clathrates available nearby that you can re-fill the bay after repairing the shields.
Right-click on the tower and choose "Access Strontium Bay". The tower force field settings tab controls your POS bubble and shows information about the tower and shield hit point percentage and shield resists. You must set a password on your POS shield in order for the POS bubble to function properly and keep people out of the bubble who aren't allowed in. There are two ways to set the POS bubble password.
You can either right-click on the tower in space and choose "set password" or you can set the password in the tower management UI. This password only allows them to pass through the boundary, it does not protect them from offensive systems or grant them access to storage modules such as corporate hangars. Be aware that if a spy guesses or knows your password, they can enter the POS bubble and bump AFK pilots or empty ships outside the bubble.
They can also board any empty ships within the bubble and simply warp off. If the tower manager changes the POS password and you were not granted access via the restriction masks, you will be immediately kicked outside of the POS bubble.
This setting is not sticky and gets cleared if you eject from the ship, logout, or at downtime. This means that their ship will be ejected from the POS bubble when the password gets cleared due to those conditions.
If either is checked, then people who fall into that category will be able to pass through the POS bubble without needing the password. There are several checkboxes in the POS tower management UI that allow you to configure automatic defense of the tower. These options are hidden if they are not applicable to the space the POS is anchored. Your POS batteries will automatically attack anyone who's security status is dropping has a criminal [or suspect?
Such as someone shooting at your POS guns without declaring war first. If you have a GCC flag, you should never approach a POS even a normally friendly one as this setting can cause it to fire on you as a valid target.
If you have an aggression timer, you should never approach a POS even if normally friendly as this setting can cause it to fire upon you. Never shoot or duel other corporation members near a POS. This setting if turned on can also cause problems for any logistics ships that are attempting to repair the tower's shield and possibly modules. This is the only setting that should be checked normally in hi-sec space. It will ensure that your POS batteries automatically fire on valid war targets , even if you are not around to control them.
After the tower has finished going online, and for as long as the fuel holds out, the tower will now have a protective force field bubble around it. At which point you should warp back to the POS tower and finish the initial configuration. Most importantly: you must set a password before the shields will keep unwanted visitors outside the bubble. For most cases, you will want those two check-boxes in the enabled state. If you do not check one or both of these then when the shield goes online after entry of the password, you will be kicked away from the POS tower by the bubble.
If this happens, re-approach the tower and right-click the tower to get back into the management screen. You can then fix the restriction masks while outside the bubble.
See " Restriction Masks ". On the " Defense " tab, the only check-box that should be turned on in high-security space is "Attack if at War". See " Tower Defense Settings " for more details. Make sure that you click the "Apply" button to save your changes. Once the tower is fueled, online and the shield is up, you can start anchoring modules. But first, keep in mind the following limitations and common mistakes:.
After anchoring, you can either leave the module offline or you can right-click the module to put it online and active. When moving the green box with the arrows, every "step" is about m. Most modules need to be placed a minimum of m away from the nearest module 2 steps. One thing, as a POS fuel jockey, which will make your life easier are spreadsheets. Ideally, you should setup a spreadsheet such as the POS Fueling blank and use it to track:.
The spreadsheet should also have a feature where, if you tell it how much fuel is in the tower, that it will tell you how many units of each fuel type to take out to the tower to get a balanced fuel load. Eventually, all things must come to an end and it is time to tear down your tower, or move it to a new location, or just go on temporary hiatus. Derovius Vaden. Pirlouit Abuse in Empire? With a fleet of 20 BS plus support it took over 2 hours to incapacitate 6 modules on our tower.
Doesn't the structure of the guns get some obsurd volume of resistance from the tower so long as it's active. I also don't know if by blasting off the shield and armor it disables the gun at that point Those time estimates are for disabling the gun. Note also that I have not seen any indication so far that structure shield and armor would have any kind of reists.
As far as I can tell hardeners affect only tower shield. And you dont want to destroy the guns anyway while tower is active. Just disable them so you can blast the POS in peace. Even large towers go down relatively fast yes hours but not exsessive amount of those with just battleships shooting.
Dread does not do a lot higher damage than battleships even in siege mode - something like 2x to 3x damage over battleship. It just tanks a lot better. All Rights Reserved. If we decide to do this, I will be basically taking most of the resources I've accumulated in my eve life and rolling the dice on something I really want to do, but am not totally sure of how to do, method wise.
Any help would be massively appreciated. Collapsed Out. Pandemic Legion. Andrew Jester. Sky Fighters. Rote Kapelle. Welcome to wspace. The first thing to realize is your tower will not keep you safe, it merely increases the amount of effort required to displace you. Of course you want some neuts, points and guns but your primary defense is effort required to displace you being more than the desire. Give fights, avoid smack talk and never allow the situation to become one where someone else greatly hates you.
Far better than a tower is simply having pilots that have fighting ships and experience using them. Also poverty is a pretty good defense. Avoid being perceived as having excessive wealth and goods laying about.
For example if your tower has three labs and 7 CHAs some might imagine that you have a ton of blueprints and goods. While the tower might be empty or filled with rocks that wont matter because that is not how it is perceived and someone could hit the pinata hoping for candy. The Scope. Gallente Federation.
